The new 206,000-gross-square-foot, four-story Math and Science Building in the heart of San Diego Mesa College provides additional educational space for students pursuing degree and certificate programs in biology, chemistry, physical sciences and mathematics. The building houses four floors of classrooms, as well as faculty, staff and administrative support space. Precast elements on the building included GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) walls, soffits, spandrels and column covers. The inherent cooling properties of concrete provided by the Architectural Precast Concrete and GFRC panels contributed to reduction of energy consumed and heat absorbed within the building.
